Confused Daffodils

The unseasonably warm daytime temperatures that we have been experiencing have tricked our daffodils into believing that it's spring!

The Holidays are Here

It's already the holiday season - I can't believe it. Time has certainly flied, this year! I am nowhere near as ready as I'd like to be. I hope everyone's preparation are going more smoothly than mine.

The photo above is of the garland I made last year for the live tree. I really liked it, but this year I simply do not have the time to string popcorn! Oh well, maybe next year.

Cerys' Netflix Queue Review No. 1

My theater going days have been seriously diminished as a result of latest addition to the family! Because of this, we have finally subscribed to Netflix. As an extension of the wonderful Netflix experience, I will be providing my reviews of our rentals here for all to see. I'm not expert, just opinionated!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

I really wanted to love this movie.

As a child, I read the Chronicles of Narnia over and over. I even named my cat after a character in The Horse and His Boy.

However, I found this film to be lackluster. I just simply did not experience that magic I did while reading the books in my youth. (Perhaps these stories are really meant for younger audiences and I have grown too old.)

The production value was good, although it did bother me that so many things "looked" digital. The casting was adequate - nothing truly wrong there. So why didn't I love it? I really don't know. I just didn't.

This baby squirrel came to visit us. I've seen him on the deck before, but this time I just happened to have my camera!

Weekly Weigh In

Now that I've given birth to my son, I currently weigh far more that I would like to! My highest weight, at the end of my prgnancy, was around 206 pounds. Yikes. Shortly after the delivery, I dropped to 175. My weight has slowly been dropping, but I've decided to chronicle it here, for all to see, as a source of personal motivation.

Goal Weight: 145 pounds/size 8-10 (pre-pregnancy weight; home scale)
Ultra-Goal Weight: 135 pounds/size 8
Current Weight: 164 pounds

Notes: I managed to almost entirely avoid the left-over Halloween candy. I haven't been moving around enough, but I haven't been a total slacker. More exercise is definitely needed to speed up the process! Also, I am too dehydrated - I definitely need to drink more water.

Little Feet

Thursday, September 21, 2006

Hi! I'm Magnus.

My mama is busy right now taking care of other things (namely me), but she promises to have a full update later today. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to nap more.

Friday's Child

Well, today is the day for my little one to make his long awaited appearance. At 4:30 am, I am being induced into labor. I am relatively nervous. All I want is for the little guy to be healthy and that there are no complications with the delivery.

Wish me luck!

The hills are alive with the sound of crow calls.

© Mary McAndrew

One of the things I truly missed during our short existence in Indiana was the sight and sound of crows. You would think that in a state so full of corn, that crows would be ever-present. Not so, I say.

Here, in a land of hills and deep ravines, I am greeted every morning with the "caw-caw" of my most favorite bird. I hear them throughout the day as well.

I am so happy to be home!

Settling In

Well, we've been "moved in" for two weeks now. Things are still very hectic. Much has been unpacked, but all that means is that there is a mountain of boxes on the back deck that must be disposed of slowly by means of weekly trash collection. We get rid of about 10-13 boxes a week, so it shouldn't take all that long. (I am eager to be able to see the back yard.)

As excited as we are to be at our new home, I've realized that moving simply stinks. I am completely sick of planning how all the accumulated stuff that we own will "fit" into the new house, not to mention the constant shuffling of items that should have been disposed of years ago. Why I packed and moved all this unnecessary junk is beyond me.

Normally, I would view this as an opportunity to finally purge the family of the years of pack-ratted junk, but being only a week and a half from my due-date, all I feel is a sense of dread that I will be bringing the newest member of our family home to a house of chaos. This puts my stomach into knots.

In the end, this experience is very overwhelming. When I look around all I see is work to be done - not just immediate stuff, but future projects as well. I am excited for those future projects, but right know they just fill my brain. Add to that the restrictions of being 9 months pregnant and the normal concerns of bringing home a new baby, and I about ready to pop on all fronts!

Serenity now!

(I don't think I'll be finding it anytime soon.)

Moving Day

Some of you may not know, but my family and I are moving! We will be 40 miles from our hometown of Youngstown, which makes us all very happy.

As I type, burly men are loading all of our belongings onto a brand-new tractor-trailer. (Everything but my precious Mac, which will be traveling with us.)

I will be without internet service from later today until Sunday evening.

To all those who remember that I am pregnant, I'll be fine, even though I officially hit the 9 month mark this past Tuesday.

I've been busy in recent days with attempting to chronicle the house through pictures. The pic above is of some of the decorative items I had in my bedroom. I was collecting them for crating and the late afternoon sun was hitting them rather dramatically. I think it's rather pretty.

Until later,

Backyard Birds No. 2

Another species of birds that resides in my backyard is the Red-Bellied Woodpecker. I've seen two of them. On occasion, they peck the neighbors house. We used to laugh at this. Then, one targeted our home - at 7am on a Sunday, right outside our bedroom window. It sounded like a mini jackhammer was being used in the walls. Ha, ha.

Elusive Neighbor

Today, after and week and a half of rain, I was finally able to get outside for a walk around our property. As I passed our cottoneaster shrub, I noticed a small movement. Knowing that it was just the ribbon snake who lives there, I paid no mind to it. Upon passing the shrub again, I noticed Mr. Snakey entwined in the branches. I was completely excited, because I've been trying to snap a pic of him for weeks - he never complies. Seeing him there today, so picturesque and willing, I started saying aloud "Oh, don't move, don't move!" while I waddled as quickly as I could to go grab my camera inside the house. My neighbors must certainly think I'm crazy.

So Scattered.

**FLYING CONDITIONS: Overcast; Gusts of Wind**

I have ben completely scattered, of late. I've got so much going on, most mornings I spend too much time contemplating what to attend to first. Do I blog, straighten up or get an early start on all the freelance graphic/web design work I'm working on? Do I shoot some stock photos, tend to the garden, finish the Halloween scrapbook pages or wrap up several collage I've been doing? Work on my several side businesses or focus on getting everything ready for the baby (only 4 months to go)? Add to it the normal daily responsibilities as a wife and mother and my head is completely spinning.

Sometimes being an multi-tasking Gemini is too much.

Addition Blog Links

I've added several blogs in the "A Murder of Crows" Section in the right sidebar. All of them are craft blogs. Enjoy!
